Has been for quite a while, it’s just that Americans have been told they’re number 1 for so long and most of them don’t travel so they don’t see anything else.

Eh, there can be as many theories and rational thoughts as possible but the fact remains that Americans are passive, nothing will change and the people taking action know this.
