Design something sensible, then go over it again and redesign it with stupid and stubborn users in mind. Probably this is how things should go.

Sure, but it still doesn’t change the story. It’s a piece of text, it gets from one person to the other over a mobile network or over the Internet.
“Is that xerox a Canon?”
I know how it works. Texting sometimes means SMS specifically, but other times it might mean messaging over any non-SMS app/protocol.
Yep, I agree it’s pretty annoying. What’s ironic though is that in the spirit of shortening everything (like many Americans seem to do), “texted” would’ve been shorter (and in this instance there’s nothing particular about which app they used to do that).
For me Files shows recent files right on top as the first thing you see when you open the app. X-Plore has a Recent Files section too. Moreover most apps that save something usually show a toast with the file/folder path when done. I don’t know what you’re talking about.
I suppose those are the same people who make a full screen screenshot in order to share a picture.
If you faint, you can hurt yourself pretty badly by just falling to the ground; now imagine the same thing with stairs.
Even if awake, falling down the stairs has the risk of you hitting your head/neck/back, so it might be exaggerated somehow in movies, but still potentially bad.
Growing up is realising that sometimes a blunt knife can do more damage than a sharp one.
Kind of, but if (when) Intel/AMD release comparable ARM-based CPUs, Apple vs the rest would be like Intel vs AMD is today. ARM itself is something anyone can pay to get licensed to use.
The irony is that before M1, while they were on x86, Apple computers were not that different than the rest besides having special motherboards and funky firmware. Even ARM now isn’t proprietary tech, it just isn’t adopted by the others (yet). All in all it’s an artificial distinction so that some people can be separated from their money.
Magic Lantern probably. Don’t know about compact cameras, but this thing was big with DSLRs 10-15 years ago. What’s pretty impressive to me is that it didn’t require flashing the firmware, it just booted from a memory card.
Joke aside, it’ll only work implying that they have to use the same computer. Anyone tech savvy enough will know that it’s trivial to put an unencrypted drive in another machine and read it.
Sounds possible, but not feasible. Haven’t researched it, but my gut feeling tells me that it would be quite expensive if it’s not mass produced.
I disagree.
While AI might help at systemising and/or summarising already existing information, I wouldn’t rely on it at all for any creative thought. And what’s worse, the more people spare content like this, the more tolerant they’ll become to it, bringing the overall quality down.
While we’re at it, can we also talk about things that look like chat notifications, but exist only to draw your attention? Those are misleading as fuck and IMO should be ruled out as well.
Yeah, some of them like this one are not very well thought out, but I think for the most part they are - and when you put them in context, they should be searchable too. I’m saying this as someone who has never owned anything from Apple and who generally dislikes the brand.
Can’t not think of Apple who have been doing simple names like this forever. But contrary to this here, it seems to work in the Apple ecosystem because over there things like that mean one thing.
Hard agree. I’m not dyslexic, but I also occasionally mark text to keep progress, especially if it’s a long piece. And if I really want to copy that text, I will, sometimes just out of spite that you’re trying to outsmart me, and I’m more likely to leave your site sooner too.
Also, while we’re at it, can you please leave scrolling behaviour alone and not override it? I have a nice mouse that lets me scroll as fast or as slow as I want to. In some rare cases with a fancy UI where one wheel notch scrolls a whole page I agree that overriding the behaviour is warranted. In all other cases just FUCKING LEAVE SCROLLING AS IS (as handled by the OS and the browser) and don’t try to be fancy; if you try to be fancy for no particular reason, I’m more likely to leave your site ASAP rather than prefer it over other sites.
