  • Have you talked to her about these feelings?

It can be really hard to interpret people’s actions. As you start talking about your hopes and fears more with your partner, it will bring you closer rather than push you apart.

You don’t have to start by talking about the toughest topics. You can start with some easier ones, like your hopes and fears for your work, family, or studies.

  • Sorry I had to run and didn’t get to wrap up my thought.

I don’t really mind if a post isn’t a perfect fit. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. If we had hundreds of really strong posts every day then I imagine I would be more strict. Lemmy is small so at least we can be friendly and supportive in decisions that aren’t clear cut.

There was a Waymo vs Uber lawsuit awhile back over an employee that stole LIDAR designs from Waymo and brought them to Uber. A friend lawyer explained to me that there wouldn’t have been a case if Uber had only stolen the IP, but because Waymo had evidence that the IP was being used by Uber, that’s what made the case.

Patents are IP, and those are published for everyone to see. You only get in trouble if you use them.

This post is certainly outside of the norm of shower thoughts. I think in general people want posts that score a little higher on the scale of funny and interesting. Taking the sidebar strictly:

    • Does this thought pop into people’s heads? yeah, probably
    • Is it lighthearted? Not really, but its friendly.
    • Is it clever? No
    • Is it true? Yes

  • Don’t worry about this at all, this is actually a great opportunity.

You have a full year where you are a very competitive intern/research applicant because most of your schooling is behind you.

Not only that, but you can probably take an internship in the spring or fall semester when everyone else is in school. You can get some really primo internships. University of Waterloo is a school you probably never heard of but you find their students in all the big tech companies in the spring and fall because the school pushes them to take a semester off(I think). It’s a great strategy.
